Mothers’ and Fathers’ Roles in Caring for an Adult Child with an Intellectual Disability

To date, there have been few studies of mothers’ and fathers’ roles in caring for their adult children with intellectual disabilities. The present study investigated the care-giving roles of mother and father couples caring for their adult offspring with an intellectual disability, their psychological health, and the demands and satisfaction of their care-giving roles. Twelve Anglo-Australian middle-aged mother and father couples with an adult child with intellectual disability (mean age?=?24 years) participated in semi-structured interviews about their care-giving roles and completed a series of questionnaires pertaining to care-giving difficulties and satisfaction, hassles and uplifts, and general health. Findings indicated that an extremely high proportion of both mothers and fathers were in the clinical range for social dysfunction, anxiety/insomnia, and somatic complaints, although levels of depression were relatively low. The present study found that mothers undertake more daily care-giving tasks than fathers, but that the range of tasks is similar. Mothers also reported significantly more care-giving difficulties and satisfaction than fathers. Associations between measures differed somewhat for the two parent groups, indicating the need for further exploration of both mothers’ and fathers’ experiences.  相似文献

The impact of action learning on analysis of occupation

Technology and millennials have created a shift in the world and how it operates. This impact has been experienced in the field of occupational therapy education. As a result of this paradigm shift, an analysis of effective teaching methodologies was carried out to assess the most effective way to engage the millennials in an analysis of occupation process, which is a critical foundation for effective critical thinking and clinical practice for occupational therapists. An action learning assignment was utilized to bridge this gap. The action learning assignment immersed the students in a safe learning environment that recreated many types of domains that needed to be analyzed. As a result, the students experienced first-hand the outcomes of effective and ineffective analysis and problem-solving during their action learning project. Therefore, the students were able to reflect and critically think through alternatives and hear about other students' projects. Overall, the action learning project yielded positive learning and engaging outcomes.  相似文献

The purpose of this study is to examine the attitudes of non-thesis master＇s degree program： geography teacher candidates towards teaching profession regarding several socio-cultural features. The study was conducted in different universities with 218 geography teacher candidates enrolled in the geography education non-thesis master＇s degree program. The study was made by survey model. Data were collected by the ＂Attitude Scales Towards Teaching Profession＂ developed by ~etin （2006） and ＂Personal Information Form＂ developed by the authors. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA （the one-way analysis of variance） （F） and LSD （least significant difference） techniques. The results are given as follows： （1） The average of candidates＇ attitude grades are in favor of female candidates; （2） There is no difference between whether candidates work at a job; （3） According to variables of the types of high school graduated, educational level of the parents, occupations, income level and living place, there is no difference in candidates＇ attitudes scores; and （4） Candidates＇ enrolled in the geography education non-thesis master＇s degree program reason of preference influence on attitudes to teaching profession.  相似文献

高校青年教师工作满意度研究——以安徽省为例

采用质的研究方法,以安徽高校青年教师为调查对象,通过非正式个人访谈对安徽省高校青年教师的工作满意度进行实证研究。研究发现：在工作与报酬上,民办高校青年教师的工作满意度显著低于公办高校青年教师,而在职称晋级、对上级领导与同事的认知上二者之间不存在显著差异;在工作上,专科高校青年教师的工作满意度显著低于本科高校青年教师,而在报酬、职称晋级、对上级领导与同事的认知上二者之间不存在显著差异;除了在报酬方面有些许出入外,文科与理工科高校青年教师在工作满意度、职称晋级、对上级领导与同事的认知上不存在显著差异。  相似文献

抽取了有代表性的506名中学生和大学生,通过结构方程建模方法对青少年学生主观幸福感的成分结构作实证的检验与分析,结果表明：正性情感和负性情感是SWB的两个相对独立的成分,在认知成分（生活满意度）与正性情感和负性情感的因果关系没得到证明之前,SWB的指标值应该是三者的综合。  相似文献

本研究采用自编量表对陕西省地震灾区648名中小学教师被试的工作满意度现况进行调查。结果显示：（1）教师工作满意度处于中等偏上水平,学校办学条件改善明显,教师工作积极性显著提升;（2）性别、学历、职称、办学类型、学校所在地对教师工作满意度有显著影响：（3）与非地震灾区相比,地震灾区办学条件改善明显,但教学及学生管理工作仍需不断提升。  相似文献
